MCH aims to make cancellation simple and transparent. This policy explains how to cancel, what happens to access and payment when you do, and when a refund is available; it forms part of the MCH Publications policy framework and should be read with the Terms of Service and the Pricing & Subscription Policy.

01

Cancellation channels

You may cancel through:

MCH does not require a subscriber to call a salesperson merely to cancel a self-service subscription.

02

Monthly subscriptions

A monthly subscriber may cancel at any time. Unless mandatory law requires otherwise:

  • cancellation stops the next renewal
  • paid access continues through the end of the current monthly period
  • unused portions of the month are not ordinarily refunded
03

Annual subscriptions

Subscribers may disable renewal at any time. If renewal is merely disabled, access continues until the end of the annual term.

Where a subscriber requests early termination and applicable South African consumer law applies, MCH processes the request consistently with the applicable statutory cancellation rights, including the applicable notice period and any legally permitted reasonable cancellation charge. Early-termination requests may be sent to support@mchadvisoryservices.com.

04

14-day first-subscription guarantee

MCH provides a 14-Day Money-Back Guarantee for eligible first-time annual Professional subscribers.

An eligible subscriber may request cancellation within 14 calendar days after the initial purchase and receive a refund of the subscription amount paid, subject to the exclusions below. Requests may be sent to support@mchadvisoryservices.com.

The guarantee applies once per subscriber, person, household, payment method or substantially related account, and does not reset through:

  • new email addresses
  • new accounts
  • tier changes
  • payment-method changes
  • later re-subscription
05

Guarantee exclusions

The voluntary 14-day guarantee does not ordinarily apply to:

  • Desk subscriptions
  • API subscriptions
  • bespoke datasets
  • bulk data deliveries
  • commissioned research
  • custom research
  • enterprise contracts
  • historical datasets
  • consulting
  • professional services
Nothing in these exclusions limits any statutory right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
06

Abuse of the guarantee

MCH may investigate clear abuse of the voluntary refund guarantee, such as systematically extracting proprietary datasets and repeatedly reversing purchases through multiple related accounts.

This provision is not used to interfere with statutory refund or cancellation rights.

07

Duplicate charges and billing errors

Verified duplicate charges caused by MCH or its payment systems will be corrected. Valid billing errors will be refunded or credited as appropriate.

Suspected duplicate charges or billing errors may be reported to support@mchadvisoryservices.com.

08

Service discontinuation

If MCH permanently discontinues a paid service during a prepaid term without a reasonably equivalent replacement, MCH may provide:

  • a pro-rata refund
  • a subscription credit
  • migration to an equivalent or higher service

Temporary downtime, maintenance or individual feature changes do not automatically trigger refunds.

09

Termination for breach

MCH may suspend or terminate accounts for material breach, including:

  • credential sharing
  • scraping
  • unauthorised redistribution
  • circumvention of access controls
  • fraudulent activity
  • infringement of MCH intellectual property
  • unlawful use

Refund rights following termination remain subject to law. The conduct rules are set out in the Acceptable Use Policy.

10

Refund method

Approved refunds are ordinarily returned to the original payment method.

11

App-store and third-party purchases

Where a subscription is sold through a third-party marketplace, the cancellation and refund processes may be governed by that marketplace.

12

Statutory rights

Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts or waives any consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where mandatory applicable law provides greater protection, that law prevails.
