Research Corrections & Amendments Policy
How MCH corrects material factual, data or analytical errors transparently, and what counts as a non-material edit.
This policy describes how MCH Publications corrects material factual, data or analytical errors transparently, and how amendments to published research are recorded. It forms part of the MCH Publications policy framework and gives effect to the revision rules in the Research Integrity Policy.
Policy goal
MCH corrects material factual, data or analytical errors transparently.
Error types
Corrections fall into one of the following types:
- typographical or non-substantive
- data correction
- methodology correction
- interpretation correction
- material conclusion change
Material corrections
For a material correction, MCH:
- retains the original publication date
- shows the correction date and time
- explains what changed
- explains whether the conclusion changed
- preserves version history where technically practical
- does not silently replace a materially different historical conclusion
Non-material edits
Minor grammar or formatting fixes do not require a formal correction notice unless they alter meaning.
Reporting a suspected error
Suspected errors in a publication, dataset or model output may be reported to research@mchadvisoryservices.com.
MCH's right to correct data and research errors is set out in the Terms of Service. Where a correction concerns the classification of a performance output, the Performance & Backtesting Policy applies alongside this policy.
